Chris Forrest has directed and produced 14 short films since 1999, with the bulk of them made during his four-year film degree at Ryerson University. Active in the film community outside of his own projects, Chris has worked as Screenwriter, DP, Producer, Line Producer, and first AD on many films, several of which have won prestigious newcomer awards.
Chris spent the summer of 2003 at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, working with filmmaker Lindsay Gelfand to make a 22-minute digital short entitled nipplejesus. The film premiered at the New York Independent Film and Video festival to much audience acclaim. From A To You, his first director/producer collaboration with writer Josh Budd screened at 8 film festivals internationally and won Best Short Comedy at the Niagara Independent Film Festival. From A to You appeared at the Phoenix Jewish Film Festival in March 2005 as the Official Gala Showcase Selection, and was recently admitted to the New York International Short Film Festival.
Chris’ latest film, a short entitled Jimmy’s Pub, was shot in December 2004 and is pending festival entry. While developing several narrative Film and Television projects, Chris segued into the world of commercial filmmaking, writing and directing the 2006 television campaign for Alberta based fitness clubs, SpaLady. His spots are currently running.
